Guidelines

I really do hope this can become a helpful, open forum for sharing, but by opening things up for that, I also realize there are some risks, so I respectfully ask that you observe a few guidelines.I welcome you to share your feedback, advice, or general comments on any posting, but when posting comments please be aware that others will see your comments, and when reading comments please be aware that the comments are probably coming from other SICK individuals just like you and me. Before you follow ANY specific advice, please TALK TO YOUR SPONSOR. If you don’t have a sponsor, please get one.

Remember, we can only help each other here by focusing on common themes of addiction, NOT by focusing on our differences. I will try to keep the forum as open as possible, but I will delete comments that seem to focus too much on specific drugs or specific religions.

Let’s agree to focus on recovering from the disease of ADDICTION, not drug-use.

Too many wars have been fought over denominations and religions- Let’s agree to focus on a “Power Greater Than Ourselves” or a “Higher Power.” I’d even be ok with “God” as long as we all can acknowledge that by those three little letters, I/we mean God as we each individually understand God.

I’d also like to ask that we not criticize or compare specific recovery programs. I do not care if specific programs or specific institutions are mentioned, but I’d prefer for this site NOT to become a battleground over which program is “best” or even “right.” Whatever works for YOU is RIGHT for YOU, but it may not be right for anyone else. Let’s agree to let each recovering addict be responsible for his or her own recovery.

Finally, If I know who you are, I will respect your anonymity, and ask that you return the favor by respecting my anonymity if you know who I am. I really hope we can, over time, focus on many aspects of recovery, but we can only do this if we place principles before personalities.

May you be blessed in your recovery, and thanks for sharing.
